Once in a while, I always find myself craving food from Cafe de l’Orangerie. I suppose it is considered a hole in the wall, tucked away in the corner. I stumbled upon this little Japanese style cafe over a year ago and have been returning ever since. They have friendly staff and a cozy environment, but the ventilation needs a bit of work, because it can get quite stuffy in there.
During my most recent visit with the boyfriend, we shared their creamy masago spaghetti and asked for an egg on top. It’s my current favourite item on the menu! The sauce is very flavourful and creamy, with masago throughout, and the seaweed adds a nice touch. The squid and the asparagus is delicious, even though it was sparse. A bit more veggies and seafood would be nice though.
I also ordered the soup of the day, which was corn soup. Every time I go, their soup of the day seems to be the same thing, haha. It tastes pretty good, with fresh corn, not the canned type, with a touch of pepper and bread crumbs on top.
Of course I can’t skip out on their drinks, after all, it is a cafe. Every time I visit, I always order either the iced maccha green tea latte or the chocolate malt smoothie, and this time was no different: I went with the smoothie. It tastes spectacular, chocolatey like a chocolate milkshake, except less fattening. So good!
Next time you’re in the area, you should definitely give this place a try!
